It's a shorter cord so you can't be too far away from the outlet but it's a quick charge so it doesn't have to be there very long. It even charges through my case and is very convenient. I think it could be used anywhere. I bought it for work and don't have to have cords for every phone, you just need the wireless charging on phone. I am buying a couple more for friends, family and different places in my house!
